Meet the Makers: A Night at Scotland’s Oldest Private Club
There are moments in this profession where you have to stop, look around, and realize just how incredibly fortunate you are to be holding the camera. Documenting the opening night of the Meet the Makers gathering in July 2025 was exactly one of those moments.
Before the chaos and scale of the main gala, a small, intimate group gathered the night before for an exclusive pre-event at The New Club in Edinburgh. As Scotland’s oldest private members club (founded in 1787), the venue offers an absolutely unmatched vantage point of the city. Standing out on the balcony, looking out over the timeless Edinburgh Castle and the sweeping Old Town skyline as the dusk settled in, was one of those rare moments that makes you realize how incredible this job is. Capturing the quiet camaraderie of the makers and guests against that iconic Scottish backdrop was a true photographer's dream.
The highlight of the evening was a rare, single cask whisky tasting from Tomatin Distillery, led by global brand ambassador Scott Adamson. Watching people who truly understand and respect the craft connect over something so uniquely regional made for incredible documentary storytelling.
A massive thank you to the team at TOR Imports (@tor_imports) for bringing me along to document this extraordinary evening.
